Comics, Comedy, Celebrities & Beer: This Weekend in Cleveland

Happy Wednesday, friends. Last weekend in Cleveland was all about food. This weekend, while different, isn’t any less exciting. Without further delay, let’s get to it.

Brainstorm and Brews
Thursday, March 5 / 6 p.m.
Noble Beast Brewing Co

Community engagement, networking, socialization, prizes, food and beer. Sign me up. Members and nonmembers are invited to join the Ohio Northern Chapter of the Industrial Designers Society of America at Noble Beast Co. Guests will enjoy a drink, socialization and complementary appetizers. At 6:30 p.m., a brainstorming session will commence, with a discussion centering on events that could help energize the design community.

The event is free. Be sure to bring a business card, as it will be automatically entered in a prize raffle at the end of the evening. Metered street parking—free after 6 p.m. —is available near the brewery, as is a $3 pay lot.

Wizard World Comic-Con 2020
Friday, March 6 – Sunday, March 8
Huntington Convention Center

The crowds may be the best part of Comic-Con.

North America’s largest comic-con and pop-culture touring expo visits Northeast Ohio this weekend. Thousands of fans will descend on Cleveland to celebrate all things comics, movies, gaming, TV, art, collectibles, cosplay and more. Featured celebrity guests include Caitriona Balfe, Tyler Hoechlin, Lou Ferrigno, Anjali Bhimani and Samm Levine. Jim Gaffigan
Friday, March 6 / 8 p.m.
Cleveland State University Wolstein Center

Award-winning comedian Jim Gaffigan returns to Cleveland with The Pale Tourist Tour. The popular father of five is a writer, producer, actor and best-selling author. Fun fact: Gaffigan opened for Pope Francis in Philadelphia, during the Pope’s 2016 visit to the U.S. Tickets can be purchased on the Wolstein Center’s website.

Beer and Brewing 101 
Saturday March 7 / 12 p.m.
The Cleveland Brew Shop

Education and fun aren’t mutually exclusive. For $20, guests will learn the history of beer, sample libations and witness a live brewing demonstration. Afterward, receive 10 percent off any purchases in the shop.
